Rapport simply is telling someone a fact that they already agree upon. We are creatures who like people who are like us. We want to hang with those who think like we do, act like we do and enjoy the same activities that we do.
When I talk to strangers and speak a statement that we have in common, I build instant rapport.
There are four words delivering rapport. Learn these four words and you build instant trust, belief and rapport chatting with strangers.
If we don’t build rapport first, nothing else matters because our stranger simply turns us off and hears nothing more about what we have to say.
The four words… “I am just curious…” – the funny way of saying hello…
Let me show how this works…
“I am just curious if you pick the hours you want to work at this job?”
“I am just curious if you can pick the days you want off?”
“I am just curious if this is the career you wanted since high school?”
“I am just curious have you ever thought about being your own boss?”
“I am just curious would like more time with your family.”
A great conversation starter is the ice-breaker. Ice breakers freeze the brain. People have blinders built into their minds. These blinders prevent them from seeing the world around them.
An ice-breaker stops the brain from thinking about itself and survival and start seeing there is more to the world. It stops the self-centered thinking to concentrate on what we must say.
Learning how to talk to the stranger on the street with an ice-breaker is a skill taking you far with network marketing.
Four words captivate the mind of the stranger and turn it toward the message you have for them… “I just found out…”
“I just found out how we can fire the boss.”
“I just found out how we can stay home with our kids and get a full-time paycheck.”
“I just found out how we can retire 5 years early with full pay.”
“I just found out how we don’t have to work 45 years like our parents.”
“I just found out how we can work 3 weeks out of the month and get paid for four.”
“I just found out how we can take a one week holiday every month.”
“I just found out how we can take a six-month holiday once a year.”
“I just found out how we make more money part-time than our husbands do full-time.”
“I just found out how we can wake up every morning feeling like a million dollars.”
“I just found out how we can feel like we are 16 years old all over again smarter and with more wisdom.”
“I just found out how we can have more energy each day. Just by using that little phrase.”
“I just found out how we can make more money part-time than we can full-time.”
So, far we have four words with rapport. “I am just curious…” Four words with ice-breakers, “I just found out…” We have five words to go of our 13 words on how to talk to the stranger on the street about network marketing.
Closing has five words… “Would it be okay if…?”
The reason for doing the close before the presentation is get out of the way all objections and questions which hinder the message. We are going to disarm them by the close.
Think of how many times you’ve hung up on sales calls over the phone.
BEFORE the salesperson is able to speak, you’ve made the decision that you don’t want what he is selling and hang up.
How many of you have surfed channels? You’ve pretty much made the decision of what you don’t like and like before getting there.
The human mind makes the decision first before information…it’s just the way the human mind works. We make decisions based upon what has been programmed into our lives.
So, we only have a few seconds with anyone to build rapport, break the ice and close them.
By asking permission, “Would it be okay if…?” …we disarm the objections and make the presentation acceptable.
What network marketer does that? Not many.
So, what do we say?
“Would it be okay if you had an extra paycheck every month?”
“Would it be okay if your skin rejuvenated while you sleep?”
“Would it be okay if we can back up our body clocks to be younger?”
“Would it be okay if we wake up every morning feeling like a million dollars?”
“Would it be okay if we could iron wrinkles away?”
“Would it be okay if we never had to show up at work again?”
“Would it be okay if we took our kids on one week holidays every month?”
